What are the new areas of logistic challenges here in India?
The Indian logistics sector is at a very interesting stage right now. On one hand there are some great initiatives that are creating immense growth potential in the sector, while on the other, constraints continue to exist that are putting the brakes on this growth.
Swift technology-adoption is a new challenge the industry faces. While there is tremendous scope for the application of new and emerging technologies to streamline Indian logistics, technology application and infrastructure development need to keep pace. For example, the cold chain segment has a lot of potential, but poor technology adoption is hampering the reliability and security that this segment needs, for businesses to be able to depend on their logistics partners.
At DHL SmarTrucking, we are determined to bridge this gap and increase the trust quotient in Indian logistics.
How the e-commerce logistic is changing dynamics?
E-commerce is a highly competitive domain there are multiple players and a discerning customer base. This scenario is prompting e-commerce companies to find ways to create a more compelling offering for their customers and shorter delivery time is becoming one of the primary desired USPs.
Understandably, these businesses wish to have better control over their logistics. However, we feel it is up to logistics providers to step up and help them unlock the competitive advantage their supply chains can deliver. This will ensure that these companies are able to focus on their core businesses without having to worry about the logistics aspect, and this is what we at DHL SmarTrucking are striving to do for our customers.To add, the Indian logistics industry is also fragmented with many small local players for e-commerce logistics but there is no single player in the market like DHL that has a strong global presence and a comprehensive one-stop solution for customers.
Currently, we are running pan-India operations using a network of 20 Smart Hubs spread across the country and strategically located at the mid points of the traffic heavy lanes.
Who are the retail, e-commerce players those will be benefited from your SmarTrucking?
Our solutions will benefit players from all verticals, as our offerings translate into fastest transit times and highest reliability with ease of use, end-to-end consignment visibility, temperature-controlled capabilities and real-time tracking that beat industry standards. We are currently working with some of the leading e-commerce players, who are also leading online grocery companies, and supporting them with their logistics requirements.
Retail and e-commerce companies today are increasingly relying on shipment turnaround time and on-time delivery which give them a competitive edge.
With our expertise and extensive pan-India road network we are able to provide up to 95% reliability and up to 50% reduction in transit time as compared to traditional trucking. We have a fully-owned fleet of containers and reefers to provide stellar service, whether for dry goods or temperature-sensitive ones, to all sectors.
What percent of your clients are from Retail and what percent is from e-commerce?
We have a healthy mix of customers from both sectors, as well other industries. However, we are unable to disclose the figures.
